Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park, commonly known as “the diamond in the shadows of the giants,” is a famous Tanzania Safari destination. It is a jewel of many ecosystems with a beautiful perspective of Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain, and Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s largest freestanding mountain.

Tourists will appreciate the calm rivers and lakes around the lower slopes of Mount Meru in Arusha National Park, as well as the opportunity to see the famous black-and-white colobus monkeys.

Due to its unique ecology and fauna, Arusha National Park is a great place to visit. It is a small park with an area of 137 square kilometers, located in northern Tanzania, northeast of Arusha. The park is stunningly beautiful, with magnificent scenery and breathtaking views.

Itinerary

We’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha or Arusha airport in the morning and drive for about 45-minutes before we reach the entrance of Arusha National Park. From here we’ll drive to Momella gate, where an armed ranger will be waiting for you to start a walking safari. Yes, you read that right! Arusha National Park is one of the few parks to offer this option, and we highly recommend it as it allows you to get really close to the animals. If you wish to skip the walking, we can also arrange a full-day game drive for you, please just let us know during your reservation.

You’ll almost certainly see zebras, giraffes, baboons, buffalos and colobus monkeys, and with a bit of luck maybe you’ll even spot an elephant or a leopard. The landscapes are stunning as well, with the Momella lakes and the Ngurdoto crater as absolute highlights. Around the lakes, you’ll also be able to see hundreds or thousands of flamingos.

After a picnic lunch, we’ll take you on a game drive that will last for most of the afternoon and then drive back to Arusha for overnight at Tulia Boutique Hotel and Spa.
