Camilla, who is from Sweden, fell in love with Zanzibar after a trip she made there in 2021 and chose to return after a few months to stay. Habir, who has lived his life both in Tanzania and Zanzibar, has long dreamed of creating a tourism company.
Together they created the family business Connected Holidays, Tour and Safaris, which is based on good ethics, respect and loving relationships between people, animals and nature.

Tillsammans skapade dom familjeföretaget Connected Holidays, tour and safaris som bygger på god etik, respekt och kärleksfulla relationer mellan människor, djur och natur.
Zanzibar has two main islands, Unguja (Zanzibar island) and Pemba. There are also many smaller ones around the main islands, most of them without permanent inhabitants or only hotels. The main island of Zanzibar Is well-known for historical Stone Town, beautiful beaches and nature, both on-land and the surrounding coral reefs.
There is also a variety of different beach destinations, where everyone can find their own preferred choice. The main choice is between Zanzibar City area (including Stone Town), northern beaches (Nungwi and Kendwa), North East (Matemwe, Kiwengwa, Pwani and Mchangani) and East Coast (Michamvi, Bwejuu, Paje and Jambiani).
There are also several less well-known beaches, like Fumba and Makunduchi areas. On the coast, espeacially on the western coast of Zanzibar, there are some smaller islands with hotels as well.
Zanzibar Island is the home for most of Zanzibar’s population. Nowadays Stone Town is the main port and commercial centre of the whole Zanzibar. It also hosts many cultural events and festivals. Unguja is very easy to reach. Many international flight companies fly to Zanzibar Airport close to Stone Town. There are also local flights from Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Nairobi and Mombasa. Many travelers coming from mainland Tanzania prefer to take a passenger ferry – it takes less than 2 hours.
The other main island of Zanzibar is Pemba Island, which is much less visited by tourists but equally beautiful, in it’s own unique way.
Zanzibar is an autonomous part of Tanzania. The two countries – Tanganyika and Zanzibar – formed the Republic of Tanzania in 1964. Until 1963 Zanzibar was a British protectorate.
Zanzibari people are an ethnic mixture of many different backgrounds, including Persian, Arab and African. While Zanzibar is over 90% Muslim (mainly Sunni but including many minorities as well), there are also different Christian, Hindu and other smaller religions represented on the island.
This cultural hotpot is known for it’s gorgeous beaches, spice farms and it’s Arabic influenced historical city, Stone Town. The history also contains a darker era, because Zanzibar used to be the biggest slave trader hub in East-Africa.
